Okay listen — when Aadu first came out in 2015, it bombed at the box office. Like, properly flopped. And then something magical happened — it found its audience on OTT, went viral, spawned one of the most loyal fanbases in Malayalam cinema, and gave us Aadu 2 in 2017. Now, nine years later, Midhun Manuel Thomas is back with the most utterly ambitious, completely unhinged chapter yet. And paisa vasool? That’s for you to decide.

Aadu 3 is set across three completely different timelines — 18th-century colonial Kerala (1790 AD), the chaotic present, and a dystopian future in 2370 AD. The plot involves a mysterious substance capable of reshaping time itself. Shaji Pappan and his gang — Dude (Vinayakan), Arakkal Abu (Saiju Kurup), Sarbath Shameer, and the rest of the lovable misfits — get pulled into a conspiracy far bigger than anything they have faced before.

Jayasurya carries a dual role — as the present-day Shaji Pappan we all love AND as the regal Maharaja Padmanabhan Thampuran of 18th-century Kerala. Watching him switch between Pappan’s mundu-swishing street energy and the measured gravity of a Maharaja is, honestly, worth the ZEE5 subscription on its own. Director Midhun Manuel Thomas himself said: “Aadu 3 was conceived with long-form engagement in mind. It’s still the same irreverent Aadu world but with much more narrative space.”

The music by Shaan Rahman and Dawn Vincent is a whole vibe — blending traditional Kerala beats with futuristic themes. The chartbuster “Sulthaan” is everywhere right now, and hearing it in Dolby Atmos on a good ZEE5 setup is a different experience entirely. Commercially, the film crossed ₹125–150 crores globally, making it one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films ever.
